Macbook Charger question?
Hi, my Macbook charger broke because it's cable snapped somehow. So I'm planning on purchasing one online, however the one online says its 85W while the one on mine says 60W. I'm wondering if this difference in W could potentially cause a problem for my macbook. Does anyone know if purchasing a 85W charger makes any difference at all?
Manufacturers sometimes calculate the output of laptop chargers by both volts and watts. For volts, the amperage of the laptop charger does not matter if the volts matches. However, it is a difference case if you are buying a laptop charger by its watts. If you get something too low, the worst thing that can happen to you is that it does not power up your laptop at all. But if you get something that's of a much higher watts, be very careful because there is a possibility that this charger might burn up your laptop.
By the way, I don't think there are a 60w and a 85w charger. Are you talking about a 65w and a 90w universal charger?
Personally, I would suggest buying from a reliable website. You can find many replacements through websites like ebay, amazon, google shopping, and etc. but I'm quite unsure about their qualities.
